Hello there, totally amazing author with brilliant taste! We were matched on one of my favorite books, so I think it's safe to assume you're pretty great. Thank you so much for the fic--I cannot wait to read it!

I apologize for only choosing book fandoms, and two series by the same author on top of that. This is my first Yuletide and it's possible that I may have gotten a little carried away.

You...probably can’t tell, as my web presence is pretty locked down, but I read very widely and love all sorts of fic. I especially love worldbuilding, myths & fairy tales, and using old tropes in new ways. I would strongly prefer your story not contain rape/non-consent, incest, or major character death. I also have a mild-to-moderate embarrassment squick, which can be best described by the motts.

EDIT: I also want to add that my requests are in no particular order, and the amount I wrote has more to do with me frantically trying to finish the letter than anything else. I love all of these books SO MUCH and will be thrilled with stories written about any of them.

Dalemark Quartet – Diana Wynne Jones (Tanaqui)
Any new stories about Tanaqui would be great! What sort of student was she when Robin was teaching her how to weave? What adventures did she have while searching for Gull in the south? How does she feel about the roles her family adopt as they grow up?

This is a quartet of children's books written by Diana Wynne Jones set in the fictional country/region of Dalemark and spanning thousands of years. The character I requested is most prominent in The Spellcoats, which is the first book chronologically.

I think that DWJ did a great job of making Tanaqui believably young--she doesn't really get the romances around her, she fights with her siblings over stupid things, adults don't always take her seriously, &c--but also so skilled, intelligent, and competent. I wish we'd been able to see how she continued to grow up over the years.

Derkholm Series – Diana Wynne Jones (Claudia, Titus)
I'd love to read more about Claudia and Titus as siblings. How did they deal with being separated when they were younger? How does Claudia help Titus after he's taken back the Empire? But really, anything in the Derkholm 'verse would be amazing.

More DWJ! I love her so much <3. The Derkholm series is actually just two books, Dark Lord of Derkholm and Year of the Griffin, both of which are children's/YA and AMAZING. Titus is in both books, but Claudia only appears in Year of the Griffin. Both books play with fantasy conventions and tropes. In DLoD, everyone is forced to act out bad fantasy for the benefit of tours from our world. It's based off another DWJ book, The Tough Guide to Fantasyland. I am a giant sucker for the subversion of fantasy tropes (see also: The Enchanted Forest Chronicles) so of course I love these books. Please don't feel obliged to stick with my character choices for this one.

A Companion to Wolves Series – Sarah Monette & Elizabeth Bear (Isolfr, Skjaldwulf, Vethulf)
I just want these three to have something like a happy ending! Failing that, it would be cool to see their growing partnership, their wolves' view of their relationships, or character pieces focused on any of them.

This series is currently incomplete, with two books released of at least three, A Companion to Wolves and The Tempering of Men. If you're not familiar with these books, you may want to be aware of these warnings (highlight to read): rape, dubious consent, genocide, fairly major misogyny throughout, violence against and mistreatment of animals.

I heard about the sequel about a month after it was published, bought it, devoured it, and almost cried when I got to the end and realized it was the middle book in a trilogy. There are tons of loose ends to run away with, though, so it's perfect for fic! Any story you write does not have to include all three characters--character pieces or background for any of them would be lovely!

Sunshine – Robin McKinley (Rae "Sunshine" Seddon)
I'd love more worldbuilding for Sunshine! Anything about Sunshine's magic & how she learns to use it or how it affects her life post-story would be cool. New recipes she comes up with, if she uses her magic while baking, further encounters with the SOF, Mel and Con and *that* tangle--whatever you'd most like to write, I'm sure I'll love reading!

Sunshine is about vampires and baking and I wish for a sequel every time I read it, so anything you choose to write will be very welcome! I have no preference with regard to Sunshine/Mel or Sunshine/Con or Sunshine/Mel/Con or entirely gen fic.

Thank you again for offering one of these fandoms & writing me a sure-to-be-awesome story. I hope you have a great time writing and a wonderful Yuletide!
