walk to mordor

I've been taking a few walks lately, so I decided to start logging my distance for the Walk to Mordor challenge.
Today I took a lovely walk on a greenway that starts near my neighborhood. There were lots of flowers: spring beauty, yellow jessamine, violets, and buttercups, and the redbuds and dogwoods are blooming, too. There were a ton of blackberry brambles along the trail, but the buds are still forming. I saw cardinals, something that was probably a blue jay, a couple mallards, a sparrow, a tufted titmouse, a bunch of turtles (yellow-bellied sliders?), and an incredibly loud Canada goose. The trail goes through a wetland area that's largely been cultivated by a colony of very busy beavers; I passed two of their lodges.
Appropriately, I am still walking in the Shire, probably not quite over the Great East Road yet.
Mileage: 5.64 today, 6.2 total
