31 Days Meme / Snowflake Challenge

My name is Erin. I'm 25 and have lived in North Carolina for my entire life except a semester spent in Sheffield, England. When I was growing up I wanted nothing more than to move away; I was going to go out-of-state for college until I realized how expensive it was and how good some of our local schools were. I'm fiercely defensive of my state, fucked-up as it is, and feel more connected to the South the older I get. I even sort of like the humidity now.

I work in online customer service and hate it; I'm applying to library science programs with the goal of doing something I love with my life instead. I'm a volunteer DJ at a college radio station, and I met the woman who is currently my closest NC friend there. DJ K and I eat at cool restaurants and go to shows. She's not fannish herself, but she doesn't mind when I talk about Yuletide or Teen Wolf or whatever.

I've been in fandom since I was 11 or 12 and my friends and I all got into Gundam Wing (and other anime, but the first fic I read was definitely Gundam). I read in most of the major fandoms from about LotR on, but I didn't really participate in the community until bandom. It was through random that I met kinetikatrue (waiting to sober up outside a Young Veins & Foxy Shazam show so I could drive intrepidcat home) and discovered that we'd done art for the same Bandom Big Bang story. A bit later, Kat invited me to a game night at sansets' house and I met Team DC.

Purest Element But It's So Volatile, a Ryan/Spencer story for BRBB. I struggled with this story a lot because the mix had so much packed into it, a lot of it painful, and I wasn't sure I could do it justice. I'm still not sure I did, honestly, but the story I wrote was out of my comfort zone and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Build A House Inside of You, a Derek/Stiles fanmix about two fucked-up people in a relationship that's failing because they refuse to deal with their own issues, their subsequent breakup, and their eventual reconciliation after some therapy and/or self-actualization. My 8tracks summary was more succinct. This was my first Teen Wolf mix and I worked on it for.fucking.ever.

sweaty sheets and an ocean view, art for TWHeatWave that's vaguely Derek/Stiles. This was the first drawing I completed in, gosh, at least a year, I think? So that was a pretty big deal. I also pushed myself more with the posing, the background, and the colors than I have in years.
