Dear Festivids vidder,
I’m excited we matched, because I am very into all of these sources! Thanks for making me a vid to one of them <3 I hope you have a great time.
I’ve tried to write a bit about why I like each source, my favorite characters and/or pairings, and prompts if I happen to have any. If you have a vid in mind already, though, please go for it!
Safety fandoms: Paprika (2006), Emma (2020), Plants Behaving Badly (2017)
General likes & dislikes
I like all sorts of vids, though I generally prefer that vids not have much voice-over dialogue. I also love all kinds of music! I don’t have any video or audio triggers.
The Blue Planet (TV 2001)
I love (and reasonably fear) the ocean and this documentary series played a huge part in furthering my fascination. I'm an enormous nerd about marine biology and am particularly into reefs, the deep ocean, and coastal environments like salt marshes, estuaries, and tide pools. This show was gorgeously shot and I'd love something that highlighted the beauty and wonder and danger it shows or dove deep into a specific area.
Emma. (2020)
I loved this, especially the costumes and all the funny moments created by their accuracy/what actually wearing them entailed—I just thought the comedic elements were excellent overall. A vid about those or about any of the characters or the romances would be wonderful.
Paprika (2006)
The surrealism, the soundtrack by Hirasawa, and the amazing animation all really struck me. Dreams and how they affect/are affected by our lives! Mind-bending cinematography!
Plants Behaving Badly (2017)
I am ALSO a huge nerd about plants and orchids and carnivorous plants are two groups I just think are SO NEAT. Both grow natively in my home and it was great to learn more about them in this two part documentary. I slightly preferred the carnivorous plants episode but loved the footage in both. Predation and parasitism and disguise and mimicry and trickery shot beautifully.
The Thin Man (movies)
The official tag nomination is for all the films but I've only seen the first one, so please only footage from that. Nick & Nora's breeziness and how in love they are and how clever they are! 1930s fashion! Capers!
Thank you again, and I can't wait to see your vid!
