Dear Equinox vidder,

I’m excited we matched, because I am very into all of these sources! Thanks for making me a vid to one of them <3 I hope you have a great time.

I’ve tried to write a bit about why I like each fandom, my favorite characters and themes, and prompts if I happen to have any. If you have a vid in mind already, though, please go for it!

General likes & dislikes

I don’t have any video or audio triggers. I like all sorts of vids, though I prefer that vids not have much voice over dialogue. I also don’t have any big DNWs for any of these sources, with the exception of lingering or persistent shots of hand torture/injuries.

Things that appear in these sources that I love include found family, identity porn, and magical realism. I also like whatever the source version of worms!fic ("go into the garden and eat worms") is, where the POV character feels isolated and alone and unappreciated but eventually realizes that they're loved.

The Untamed

Why I love this: I am very into this show, the novel it's based on, and the author's other works right now. This has identity porn, worms feelings, and oodles of beautiful scenery and costumes. It has characters who try to do what's right even when it's hard, and who sometimes (often) suffer for it.
Pairings I love: Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian/happiness, various juniors combinations
Characters I love: Basically all of them except the evil Wens and Jin Guangshan. I find the Xue Yang and Jin Guangyao most interested when contrasted with other characters rather than as focus characters themselves.
Prompts: Generational trauma; absolute loyalty; beautiful things; the complexity of doing the right thing; identity.

Captain Marvel

Why I love this: This movie was so great. I loved Carol's struggle to regain her memories and through them her sense of self. I loved how joyfully she embraced her powers. I love how 90s it is. I love all of the cat jokes.
Pairings I love: Carol/flying, Carol/Maria, Carol/Nick
Prompts: Flight; identity; kicking ass.

Ever After

Why I love this: I have been deeply into this movie since I first saw the trailers as a wee corbae. I own it on VHS; I only own like 5 movies on VHS so this is a huge deal. The costumes are lovely, that scene where she pelts the prince with apples is iconic, Anjelica Huston is amazing as the wicked stepmother.
Characters I love: Danielle, Rodmilla
Prompts: Women fighting for their place; identity; fairy tales.

Rocketman

Why I love this: The way the fantastical elements were woven into the story were *chef's kiss* sublime. I was raised on Elton John so obviously I was predisposed to like this movie; however, the film's portrayal of his journey to accept himself and his complex relationships with various friends and family members exceeded my expectations. The glitz of the stage costumes as a distraction and his gradual removal of those trappings in the group therapy session was great. The choreography was lovely.

Prompts: Creative force as a means to escape; families, found and otherwise; creation generally; addiction and fighting free of it; toxic relationships.

The Shape of Water

Why I love this: The evils of the American military-industrial complex, and other military-industrial complexes! Fucking a swamp monster! What is not to love here, honestly. This film is gorgeous.
Pairings I love: Elisa/monster, Monster/Elisa/music, Elisa/dancing
Prompts: Dance and music; rebellion; sexy swamp monsters.
