Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Peter Grant/Thomas Nightingale
Characters: Peter Grant, Thomas Nightingale

I seriously loved it so much--the character voices are perfect, the plot is great, it's everything I could have wanted :D

General likes:
I read across all ratings and genres. I love found families, magic based on symbolism, urban fantasy, fairy tales, characters with prickly outsides and marshmallow insides, and characters who are passionate about something, be it baking, music, or saving the world. I have a particular weakness for stories that hurt; I unabashedly love worms!fic ("go into the garden and eat worms"), where the POV character feels isolated and alone and unappreciated but eventually realizes that they're loved. I am a big fan of Belligerent Sexual Tension (warning! link goes to TV Tropes). I generally prefer happy or ambiguous endings to unhappy ones.

General dislikes:
I don't really care for gore in horror but suspense is A-OK. I would strongly prefer your story not contain rape/non-consent, major character death (final death for the vampires), watersports, or scat. I also have a mild-to-moderate embarrassment squick, which can be best described by the motts.

Here's a bit more about my requests, in no particular order.

Wise Child Series - Monica Furlong )

I was so lucky and received a treat in addition to my gift this year. Both stories are wonderful. Thank you, mystery authors!

An Analysis of the Implicit Rules of Expletive Infixation (Or, Where the Fuck do You Put the Fucking Fuck?)
Hark! A Vagrant - Mystery Solving Teens | 8K words
content note: The teens & other characters pantomime methods of suicide as a joke.
In which Vanessa and the Mystery Solving Teens Uncover a Dastardly Plot, Participate in Civic Life, Stake Out a Villain's Headquarters, Lie to a Small Child, and Ramble through Nature Au Naturel.

Or, How Vanessa Dragged the Mystery Solving Teens Toward Graduation while Committing Aggravated Assault on the Rules of English Grammar.

Just what I wanted! Truly snappy dialogue and great capers.

A dirty house in a gutted world
Daniel Danger - or is it the dying little light of the soul | 750 words
A journey through a dark house at the end of winter.

This was, in addition to being a great surprise, a lovely, quiet piece. The worldbuilding was such that, if the author cared to write more in this world, I would be happy to read it.

General likes:
I read across all ratings, genres, and pairing permutations (or lack thereof! gen is love as well). I have a gigantic pan-fandom love of urban fantasy and fairy tales; I don’t think there’s a fandom where I wouldn’t love a magic AU. But please don’t feel you need to write one! Canon fic, real-world AUs, slice-of-life: I love it all. I have a particular weakness for stories that hurt. I unabashedly love worms!fic ("go into the garden and eat worms"), where the POV character feels isolated and alone and unappreciated but eventually realizes that they're loved. General dislikes:
I don't really care for gore in horror but suspense is A-OK. I would strongly prefer your story not contain rape/non-consent, major character death, infidelity, watersports, scat, or bloodplay. I also have a mild-to-moderate embarrassment squick, which can be best described by the motts.

After much gnashing of teeth I settled on my Yuletide noms for the year.

Sneedronningen | The Snow Queen - Hans Christian Andersen
Lappekonen | Lapland Woman (Sneedronningen)
Finnekonen | Finland Woman (Sneedronningen)
Røverpige | Robber Girl (Sneedronningen)
Prindsesse | Princess (Sneedronningen)

Kai, Gerda, and the Snow Queen were already nominated. If I request this it will be for women Getting Shit Done.

Lament - Mount Moriah (Song)
You (Lament)
Narrator (Lament)

I love this song so, so much. You can watch the video here. Sometimes I want to read stories about relationships that are broken beyond repair. If the relationship is fixed through lots of tears and hard work and communication, that's cool. If it's never fixed and you're left with that ache in your heart, that's cool too.

DANGER Daniel - Works
wet teeth in the darkness
or is it the dying little light of the soul
hear
id sink to your city streets if i wasnt buried in your hands

I first saw Daniel Danger's work because of Fall Out Boy and Jensen. He did the cover art for Believers Never Die but I'd seen his stuff earlier on the website for Jensen's Gallery 1988. I just want to know the story behind almost every one of his pieces; they have very rich narratives, I think.

Hark! A Vagrant
Vanessa (Hark! A Vagrant)
Dark-haired Mystery Solving Teen (Hark! A Vagrant)
Light-haired Mystery Solving Teen (Hark! A Vagrant)
Pony (Hark! A Vagrant)

Teens! They are so terrible. And I would read a million stories about Vanessa the girl reporter, so.

What are your Yuletide nominations this year?
corbae: Dylan O'Brien (Dylan O'Brien)
This is a super-belated Yuletide post.

I wrote The Magic School Bus Stops a Spell for Rhea. It's a Magic School Bus/Teen Wolf crossover where the class visits Beacon Hills to help out Ms. Frizzle's niece Lydia. (They're clearly related because red hair and SCIENCE!)

Rhea recorded a podfic of the story and the voices she does for the class are great.

I received 3 fairytales from silverfoxflower. They're grouped as a series under Tales of the Wolf but each story stands alone.

I read pretty widely across fandoms, tropes, and ratings. My Pinboard is here. I have a gigantic pan-fandom kink for urban fantasy, fairy tales, and Monster of the Week casefic.

Hello there, totally amazing author with brilliant taste! We were matched on one of my favorite books, so I think it's safe to assume you're pretty great. Thank you so much for the fic--I cannot wait to read it!

I apologize for only choosing book fandoms, and two series by the same author on top of that. This is my first Yuletide and it's possible that I may have gotten a little carried away.

You...probably can’t tell, as my web presence is pretty locked down, but I read very widely and love all sorts of fic. I especially love worldbuilding, myths & fairy tales, and using old tropes in new ways. I would strongly prefer your story not contain rape/non-consent, incest, or major character death. I also have a mild-to-moderate embarrassment squick, which can be best described by the motts.

EDIT: I also want to add that my requests are in no particular order, and the amount I wrote has more to do with me frantically trying to finish the letter than anything else. I love all of these books SO MUCH and will be thrilled with stories written about any of them.

On to the requests! )

Thank you again for offering one of these fandoms & writing me a sure-to-be-awesome story. I hope you have a great time writing and a wonderful Yuletide!
