Points out that a pardon would represent an official endorsement and back-pat for systematic violations of the rights of people of colour.

Politico: GOP chairmen resist hearings on white supremacy
They don't want it. Demand it.
plaidadder: Three Democratic members of the House have introduced a censure resolution.
You can read the text here.
Censure is a formal reprimand. It is not legally binding, but it is rare, and Sends a Message. MoveOn.org originally organized around a campaign to get Congress to censure Clinton instead of impeaching him.
This may be an attempt to accomplish something less difficult than impeachment; or it may be a trial run to see how many Republicans are ready to jump from the Trump Train.
ETA: Politico: Pelosi endorses censure of Trump over Charlottesville response -- apparently at least 79 Democrats have signed.
Not directly Charlottesville-related, but interesting and could be worth asking your reps to support:
H.R.1987 - Oversight Commission on Presidential Capacity Act
To steal Wikipedia's explanation: "This bill would replace the Cabinet as the body that, together with the Vice President, determines whether Section 4 should be invoked. Under the bill, an eleven-member commission would conduct an examination of the President when directed to do so by a concurrent resolution of the Congress."
(Which, basically, shifts the power to forcibly 25th-Amendment the President back towards Congress to a greater degree, as opposed to depending entirely on the Cabinet which that President apppointed.)
VividCon 2018 interest survey for vidders and panel moderators
If you are interested in moderating panel programming next year, submitting premiering vids, and/or wish to give opinions on streaming-only options on vidshows, please read over the survey. Nothing in here is binding; this is just to gauge interest and take down names/emails so we can follow up with potential moderators and vidders later on.
(Potentially quite a bit later on -- at some point yours truly is going to get in a post-con nap.)
As is mentioned in the survey, the Comet room will be used for panel programming next year. There will be plenty of time and space for panels and many opportunities later on to come up with panel topics and sign up to moderate them. This isn't the one and only chance to volunteer to moderate a panel, or to indicate interest in submitting a vid; we're still in the early stages of planning for next year.
This is likely to be the last about next year's programming for a while, but if you have comments, questions, suggestions, or anything else related to panels and vidshows, you can always email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you need to contact a staff person about the con on a different topic, please use our contact form.
The site has lots of other tools and graphics too.
I C&Pd the registration link, if it doesn't work try womensmarch.com.
There doesn't seem to be any central clearing house of information, so if you'd like to join a counterprotest, I suggest googling with the name of your city. I did that and found that there is an alt-right protest in Los Angeles this Saturday (outside Google, to protest them firing the sexist employee), and a counterprotest which I will be joining. Details on my DW if you're in the area.
We look forward to seeing you all next summer!

Tell your Representative to oppose Trump's NAFTA re-do!
Call 202-224-3121 to be connected with your Representative's office.
Here is a sample script of what to say:
Hello, my name is ________ and I am calling from ________. I am calling to urge Representative ________ to publicly oppose Donald Trump’s plan to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement. We need a new NAFTA but not one negotiated by Trump that will be worse for people and the planet than the old one.
I am counting on Rep _______ to represent us in Congress and to stop Trump’s plan to hamstring effective regulation of cancer- causing chemicals and to preclude the adoption of similar legislation by Congress.
Trump’s new NAFTA also threatens to stop future action to save bees that are dying at alarming rates. Scientists have found that neonicotinoid pesticides, manufactured by Bayer and Syngenta, are a leading driver in global bee declines and putting our food system and agricultural economy at risk.
I therefore urge Representative _______ to speak out against Trump’s plan to renegotiate NAFTA. We need a new NAFTA when we get a new and completely different President.
Thank you for telling your Representative to oppose the new NAFTA!

I know there are lots of other link lists and recommendations for places to donate floating around, so maybe people could add them in comments?
And, obviously, US people could usefully call their reps and ask them to explicitly condemn white supremacist terrorism (if your reps have already done so, you can phone or send them a card to thank them!).
If you’re worried about nuclear war, one actual thing you can do to prevent it is to call your representatives and ask them to cosponsor the Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act. It would require Trump (and any future president) to get congressional approval to use nuclear weapons as a first strike (as opposed to retaliation after someone uses them first). It was proposed back in January and seems really, really relevant these days.
You can check if your reps are cosponsors here:
If they’re not a cosponsor, call and ask them to become one.
If they’re already a cosponsor, call them and thank them, and ask them to release a press release reaffirming their support. The more news there is about this, the more likely the GOP leadership will feel pressured to actually deal with this.
And (idea inspired by recessional): if they're already cosponsoring/speaking out, you can send them a thank you card. Representatives get very little positive reinforcement, so any bit they get makes an impact. Reinforce the behaviour you want to encourage!
One bit of news is that our tag guru redbird is going to have limited internet time for the next week or so. That means it may take a bit longer than the usual super-speedy service for your posts to be tagged and new tags added. (Remember: you can always add existing tags to your posts yourselves.)
Housekeeping (the usual stuff)
Reminder that we have a suggestion post if there’s a topic that you’d like to see discussed but would like to ask the mods to look into. This can be anything from general information, or a how-to-do-a-thing, or something you may want to discuss as a community. Folks are welcome to post directly to the comm as always, but if you’re not comfortable/don’t have spoons, we can help too.
As we don't always get the time to pull things out of the suggestions post into their own separate posts, it may be worth checking every week (or tracking the post) to see if there's any new information you're interested in.
Also if you need help with tags, PM redbird, who is our tag guru. Both tassosss and I are very grateful for the help.

Ira and Susan attended Worldcon 75 on our behalf (we can't even with our jealousy over Ira getting to meet Daveed Diggs). We're so grateful to everyone who nominated and voted for us this year. Thanks also to our fellow finalists, too. It was lovely being a part of a robust ballot featuring commentary and criticism from a wide range of voices. The full list of finalists and winners can be read at thehugoawards.org.
We're still reeling a bit, but we wanted to at least reach out and say THANK YOU and OMG and WHAT and THANK YOU OMG, etc. We are super honored and so excited! Congrats to US, congrats to the other winners, and thanks for liking our work! ♥ You can find the text of our speech below.
Thanks so much for this amazing award. We accept on behalf of ourselves and the four Lady Business editors who couldn't be here tonight: Clare, Jodie, KJ, and Renay.
We also want to thank everyone who has supported Lady Business throughout the years in ways large and small, including our readers, commenters, and guest columnists. Special thanks go out to John Scalzi, whose work welcomed Renay back to science fiction. Without his books Renay wouldn't have been in the SF community to start this project with our co-founders, Ana and Jodie. Thanks to Ana Grilo of The Book Smugglers for consistent support and writing opportunities, Kate Elliott and Justin Landon for believing in our work and being the best cheerleaders, and Zachariah Carlson for being our personal Shadow Broker all these years.
When Lady Business was founded, the goal was to create a safer space for discussions in a community that was still struggling to recognize white women, much less any other marginalized identities. There's still work to be done, and change has been slow, but we are thrilled our project has been a voice within this cultural shift. We are incredibly honored that the Hugo voters find our intersectional feminist work valuable, and we will keep working to remain worthy of your recognition as we move forward.
We dedicate this award to Jodie Baker and Ana Silva. Thank you very much.
